Senna (Vegan Hyaluronic Acid)

Senna seed is a vegan source of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid, something we produce naturally in our bodies (with production slowing as we age), keeps skin hydrated and plump. It’s also a humectant, meaning it can attract water into the skin and hold onto it—something it’s super effective at. Fun fact: a quarter teaspoon of hyaluronic acid can hold up to 24 cups of water!

Hyaluronic acid also reduces skin redness for a more even complexion, improves texture and softens the skin, improves skin elasticity and firmness, and decreases wrinkle depth. This means that senna can give you smoother, softer, more supple skin. Plus, because it’s an acid we produce in our bodies, we’re less likely to react to topical hyaluronic acid.

Comparing senna and hyaluronic acid, studies conducted by Graydon Skincare’s supplier show that senna is actually a more potent hydrator than hyaluronic acid over the course of 24 hours. This unique and potent natural hydrator also helps suppress cutaneous cortisol induced by stress, which is an environmental factor that can increase skin dullness and dryness.
